Speak Out To Protect Our Natural Resources and Combat Climate Change
Urge the Flagstaff City Council, owners of Snowbowl, USDA Forest Service, and others to protect the natural beauty of the San Francisco Peaks.
July 31, 2010
Dear Forest Service,
CC: Flagstaff City Council, Arizona Snowbowl Owners and Representatives
I urge you to preserve our snowboarding and skiing experience by not utilizing treated sewage effluent for snowmaking.
I'm asking you to consider the environmental and human health impacts of endocrine disruptors, viable but non-culturable bacteria/viruses and other microbial contaminants that are not Federally regulated but are known to be present in treated sewage effluent.
I urge the Forest Service leadership to follow their own initiative of "Leave No Trace" by not allowing 1.5 million gallons of treated sewage effluent per day to pollute an otherwise pristine environment.
I urge our Representatives to place individuals in leadership roles that are serious about combating climate change and saving our natural snow. The global battle against climate change should be placed above the Forest Services' multi-use policy.
I ask the Forest Service not to continue to diminish our access and ability to recreate in a clean and safe environment.
Sincerely,
